Am I the only one who is currently addicted to all things mustaches? I have to admit, even though they are a little corny, I am absolutely loving that mustaches have become super trendy. Basically, I think they’re fan-stach-tic (ok…that may be a bit overboard). I have loved all of the mustache glasses, coffee mugs, and the like that I have been seeing on etsy and pinterest. The problem is, they are super over-priced for something I know that I can make at home. I have never etched glass before but knew that it was a possibility and would just take a little learning. So, I have studied up and tried etching for the first time to bring you an awesome tutorial and to tell you that you can do it too! I mustache you a question…how awesome is that?
I love reading, so I was excited when this week’s I Heart Faces challenge entry had to have a book somewhere in the picture. At first, I wanted a picture with a classic book, but, with the progressing popularity of e-readers, I thought about how the “book” as we have understood it is changing quite rapidly. Now, instead of hauling around heavy boxes of books with torn pages and folded corners, we have the convenience and luxury of the electronic book and the option of downloading our newest read at the touch of a button. I will admit, I will always be a fan of the traditional book; however, the fact of the matter is that the e-reader is changing the world of reading as we know it so we might as well embrace all that it has to offer.
The I Heart Faces theme for this week is FAMILY FUN! The picture that I chose is of the Draher Family—I am sure it won’t take you long to figure out why I chose this picture for the challenge! The beach, the jumping, the laughing, and the smiles…this family truly knows what it means to have fun!
I Heart Faces is an awesome website that I have been addicted to since beginning my journey with photography! As one of my goals for photography for 2012, I decided I wanted to try to enter as many of their weekly challenges as possible. It will be a stretch for me, but I’m excited for the challenge and to have an excuse to take more pictures every week! Taking pictures that truly capture special moments and memories for people to cherish gives me so much joy! I just love it!
Fall is by far my favorite of the seasons. It’s hard not to find beauty everywhere you look. The brisk air, the colors of the changing leaves, and the feeling that the holidays are right around the corner make this easily the most exciting time of the year! Sure, summer is great, and winter snow brings fun times of sledding, but there is just something about the autumn months that make me internally happy and bring serious joy to my life.
It shouldn’t be surprising, then, that the fall leaves and colors make up half of the pictures in the second post to the Capturing Beauty Series featured on the blog (if you missed the first Capturing Beauty Series post, you should check it out here). I hope that the second post encourages you to take an extra moment the next time you are outside to stop, look around, and enjoy the beauty that God has created for us in the changing leaves, trees, and colors all around.
It’s important to take these moments. Our lives move fast. The seasons change fast. And if we don’t stop for these little moments and enjoy the beauty that is offered to us, we will never realize what the true meaning of life really is.
Please take a moment to look at the pictures below and leave a comment letting me know what your favorite picture is or something about fall that you enjoy. Then, you should hop over to my husband’s blog post on The Changing Seasons so that you can have even more awesomeness in your life!
I have always been amazed at the beauty that can be found in the little things of every day life. Sometimes, it is the simple things I pass by everyday that, when I stop and really look at them, truly capture the beauty that is offered to us. That epiphany was the inspiration behind this series–the capturing beauty series. My hope is that, through these posts, I can encourage all of you to, when life starts moving rapidly by, take a moment to stop, look around, and find the beauty in the everyday things that surround you. Because of the nature of this series, I will not be publishing posts consecutively, but will rather select to post whenever I feel the need to share the things that I have found inspire me.
I hope that, no matter what you may be going through, this series will encourage you in your walk through life. Please take a moment to slow down, take a deep breath, and find the beauty that I have found in the pictures below. Leave a comment to let others know which pictures inspire you the most. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
